Scope and Vision

The Alliance for the Amazon is a coalition of key actors convened by the Red Cross as a locally rooted ally within the communities. Its purpose is to unite efforts, resources, and knowledge to strengthen the Amazon, always guided by the ancestral and traditional wisdom of its peoples. The Alliance is grounded in the commitment that communities themselves lead the processes to confront the threats affecting their environment and their people.

Vision for 2035

The Alliance adopts a 10-year vision that seeks to transform the Amazon into a more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive territory by leveraging the resources and presence of the Red Cross’s community network.

The Alliance for the Amazon encompasses the countries that share this vital ecosystem, uniting cross-border efforts to protect its biodiversity and strengthen the resilience of the communities that inhabit the region. Through regional cooperation and joint work among local, institutional, and humanitarian actors, the Alliance drives sustainable actions to preserve the environmental and social balance of the Amazon Basin.

Through knowledge exchange, the promotion of inclusive policies, and coordinated action across the territory, it seeks to protect Amazonian ecosystems and ensure the well-being of the people who depend on them.
