Volunteers from the Guatemalan RC and Colombian RC are being trained in the First National Intervention Teams Course with a Specialization in Migration, held in Panajachel, Sololá, Guatemala. The course is supported by EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, the Disaster Preparedness Reference Centre, and the IFRC. We Cannot Stop, the World Needs Us Outside.

The Honduran Red Cross is carrying out the Course on the Organization and Operation of Emergency Operations Centers (OFCOE). A total of 16 people from the councils and central headquarters are part of the training process whose main objective is to generate knowledge and skills for the Organization of Emergency Operations Centers in the context of capacity building processes for response to emergencies and disasters. It is important to highlight that this training is developed within the framework of the AP Programmatic Alliance project and has the support for its development of the CREPD, CR-Alemana and local facilitators.

The Regional Workshop on the Expanded Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis (AVCA) Methodology, with a climate focus, supported by Irish Aid within the framework of the Global Climate Resilience Programme and carried out with the support of IFRC CREPD/CRECC, has concluded. The event took place in Asunción, Paraguay, from March 18 to 21, with the participation of the Paraguayan RC, Bolivian RC, Chilean RC, Argentine RC, Italian RC, and Dominican RC. We look forward to continuing to create more opportunities for learning and collaboration among National Societies for the joint growth of the region.

La Cruz Roja Salvadoreña llevó a cabo el Curso de Organización y Funcionamiento de Centros de Operaciones de Emergencias en las fechas del 13, 14, 20 y 21 de enero de 2024. En total, 18 voluntarios participaron en esta formación, provenientes de las seccionales de San Salvador. El objetivo principal de la capacitación es desarrollar habilidades que contribuyan a abordar problemas operativos y establecer vínculos entre los esfuerzos políticos y sectoriales durante crisis y desastres. Es importante destacar que esta formación cuenta con el respaldo técnico del CREPD.

Del 8 al 12 de Mayo de 2024 se desarrolló el: 3er Taller Regional de la Metodología de Análisis de Vulnerabilidades y Capacidades Ampliado (AVCA), con enfoque climático. En el marco del Programa Global de Resiliencia Climática, auspiciado por la Cooperación Española (AECID). El espacio fue organizado con el apoyo de Cruz Roja Dominicana, y el equipo de Cruz Roja Paraguaya, IFRC/ CREPD en la comunidad de San Juan del Río, República Dominicana, con participantes de Panamá, Argentina, Chile, Colombia e Italia. Esperamos continuar generando más oportunidades de aprendizaje y colaboración para el crecimiento conjunto de la región.

Yesterday, the Climate Action Pathways exercise through the Effective Response Preparedness (PER) Process of the Paraguayan RC concluded, with the support of the Climate Centre, CREPD, and the IFRC Disaster Law Programme. This comprehensive approach aims to promote climate resilience in the operational and programmatic processes of the National Society, as well as to strengthen its auxiliary role and national positioning to address Climate Change, as part of the IFRC Global Climate Resilience Programme institutional strategy, in cooperation with Irish Aid.

Cruz Roja Boliviana lleva adelante el Taller Nacional de Preparación para una Respuesta Eficaz (PER) con la presencia de los capacitadores, Gustavo Hernández del Centro de Referencia en Preparación para Desastres (CREPD) y Mariano Alfonsi Facilitador PER de Cruz Roja Argentina junto a voluntarios de nuestras Filiales Departamentales y Municipales quienes participan de este importante proceso. La Presidenta, Lic. Gleny Yepez Chacón, al momento de inaugurar este importante proceso, recalcó que es importante realizar una radiografia de nuestra Sociedad Nacional y la priorizacion de las lineas de acción para el desarrollo de nuestra institución.

The Panamanian RC is conducting the first Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Course from January 14 to 20. This pilot course aims to validate the tools and topics to strengthen the capacities of volunteers as risk managers. The training is carried out with the support of the IFRC Disaster Preparedness Reference Centre and financial support from ECHO under the Programmatic Partnership project.

The Guatemalan RC is conducting a Disaster Risk Management Course, with a total of 17 participants from the branches and headquarters taking part in the training process. The course aims to increase the capacities of the Risk Management areas of National Societies through the application of the regulatory framework on risk management and tools for analysis, assessment, planning, and organization for disaster and crisis response, taking into account the doctrinal and strategic framework of the Red Cross Movement. It is important to highlight that this training is carried out within the framework of the Programmatic Partnership (AP) project, with the support of the German RC and American RC, technical support and certification from IFRC-CREPD, and the participation of facilitators from the Panamanian RC and Guatemalan RC.

From February 13 to 16, 2023, the Salvadoran Red Cross is holding the Y-Adapt workshop, which is a curriculum for young people consisting of games and recreational activities that helps them understand climate change and take practical steps to adapt to climate change in their community. The workshop is being facilitated by CREPD / IFRC and American Red Cross staff, within the framework of the Climate Seed Fund project.
